On June 8, 2023, the annual Service Awards Banquet honoring the dedication and accomplishments of employees and retirees took place, hosted by the City of Lawton's Human Resources Department. 95 employees received service award pins, and 27 retirees were recognized for their years of service, although not everyone could attend.

Among the distinguished honorees, HR Director Craig Akard presented Michaela Wahome, nominated by Chief James Smith, with the Supervisor of the Year award, recognizing her exceptional leadership and commitment. Akard also presented Julia Greffin, nominated by Public Works Director Larry Wolcott, with the Employee of the Year title.

Colleagues, friends, and family members of the honorees demonstrated strong support and appreciation, resulting in a wonderful turnout at the banquet.

The City of Lawton expressed gratitude to all the honorees and eagerly looked forward to another year of success, collaboration, and continued excellence in serving the community.
