In the first quarter of 2026, Michael Ayers, Norman Ayers, and Shirlena Ayers were listed as owners of Ayers Nursing Home, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) reported.
The nursing home is classified as a for-profit facility.
For that timeframe, the facility received a CMS overall rating of 3, which surpasses Oklahoma’s state nursing home average of 2.7. CMS ratings consider multiple measures, such as health inspection performance, caregiving staff, and care quality for residents.
Data shows that Ayers Nursing Home served an average of 68.9 residents each day in the first quarter of 2026, with 97 beds available. The facility does not have a connection to a hospital.
No fines or penalties were recorded against Ayers Nursing Home during the first quarter of 2026.
There were two for-profit nursing homes based in Kiowa County, Oklahoma at that time.
According to U.S. Census Bureau estimates, growth among older adults across the U.S. continues as numbers for children decrease. The 65-and-over population went up by 13% from 2020 to 2024, while the count of residents under 18 dropped by 1.7%. Over the past 100 years, the older population has expanded considerably—from 4.9 million in 1920 to more than 61 million in 2024.
A 2021 research report concluded that about half of those in this demographic, or nearly 28 million individuals, may need some type of long-term services and supports. The study also predicts more than one-third could ultimately require care in a nursing facility.
“Living a long life is something that many of us want and could get,” said Jesse Slome, executive director of the American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance, explaining the impact on long-term care needs. “But when we live a long life, the chances of us needing long-term care increase exponentially. But when you need that type of care, there are limited options.”
