Mcmahon-Tomlinson Nursing Center was identified as the second largest nursing home in Comanche County for the first quarter of 2026, based on data from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).

Records show that the facility had 142 beds available—19 more than Comanche County’s average as of the first quarter of 2026. An average of 118.9 residents received assistance at the center during this period.

The CMS assigned Mcmahon-Tomlinson Nursing Center an overall rating of 2 out of 5, which is below the Oklahoma state average of 2.7 for nursing homes.

Willow Park Health Care Center was the county’s largest nursing home in this period, with 151 beds, while Montevista Rehabilitation and Skilled Care followed in third, offering 105 beds.

By the end of the first quarter of 2026, Mcmahon-Tomlinson Nursing Center had no reported incidents of fines or penalties.

Comanche County, Oklahoma, had only one public nursing home at this time.

Estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau show the nation’s population of older adults is growing, while younger demographics are shrinking in number. From 2020 to 2024, the amount of Americans age 65 and over increased by 13%, compared to a 1.7% decrease among those under 18. Over the past century, the older adult population in the country has significantly expanded, rising from 4.9 million in 1920 to over 61 million as of 2024.

Research published in 2021 estimates that nearly 50% of this demographic, about 28 million individuals, may need long-term services and support. The same study predicts that more than one-third could eventually require nursing home care.

“Living a long life is something that many of us want and could get,” said Jesse Slome, executive director of the American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance, an organization focused on insurance education. “But when we live a long life, the chances of us needing long-term care increase exponentially. But when you need that type of care, there are limited options.”
