By the first quarter of 2026, Abbott Family, LLC owned Cordell Nursing and Rehabilitation, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) reported. Located in Washita County, the nursing home has been under the ownership of Abbott Family, LLC since Aug. 1, 2022.
This facility operates as a for-profit business.
In that timeframe, the nursing home received an overall rating of four from CMS—higher than Oklahoma’s average nursing home rating of 2.7. CMS assigns ratings based on major criteria including health inspections, staffing figures and quality of care for residents.
Records show Cordell Nursing and Rehabilitation cared for an average of 53.7 residents daily in the first quarter of 2026, out of 110 available beds. The facility is not affiliated with a hospital at present.
The nursing home reported no fines or penalties through the first quarter of 2026.
Washita County had one for-profit nursing home in total during this period.
The U.S. Census Bureau estimates that the nation’s older adult population is rising as the number of children drops. From 2020 to 2024, Americans aged 65 and older grew by 13%, while the under-18 population fell by 1.7%. The country’s older population has expanded rapidly during the last century, from 4.9 million in 1920 to more than 61 million in 2024.
Research from 2021 indicates that close to half of this demographic—about 28 million people—could require long-term care, with more than a third projected to need services provided by nursing homes.
“Living a long life is something that many of us want and could get,” said Jesse Slome, executive director of the American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance. “But when we live a long life, the chances of us needing long-term care increase exponentially. But when you need that type of care, there are limited options.”
