The demolition of the old Lawton Police Station is finally underway. K&M Dirt Services, LLC has been awarded a contract for $289,681.50 to demolish the building. Demolition started May 15 and will be complete within 90 days.
At Tuesday’s City Council meeting, Mayor Stan Booker recognized the month of May as Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. This observance highlights the valued heritage of these communities and promotes harmony, respect, and diversity in Oklahoma and beyond.
Dr. Robert Weger was officially sworn into office prior to Tuesday's City Council meeting. Councilman Weger assumes the role and responsibilities previously held by Sean Fortenbaugh, serving until January 2024, when the term concludes. The next election will take place in September of this year.

On May 5, the Oklahoma Municipal League (OML) held the second OML Tribal Municipal Symposium at Lawton City Hall. The first forum was held in January which was brought about by Mayor Stan Booker.
GIS Analyst Kristi Shannon received third place of the Map Gallery Contest at the 33rd South Central Arc User Group (SCAUG) Conference on April 20-21 in Frisco, Texas. She represented the City of Lawton GIS Division with her Lake Lawtonka Angler Mapping Project.
