Altus Police Department First Responders Day

On August 17, 2021, Mayor Robert Garrison proclaimed August 10th to be recognized within the City of Altus as "First Responders Day". Three years prior to the signing of the proclaimation, on August 10, 2018, Madison "Maddy" Lee Clinton Jr. tragically lost his life while battling a house fire. Maddy Clinton was a 33-year veteran of the Friendship Volunteer Fire Department & he was serving as Assistant Chief when he died.

Today... Sandra Clinton (Maddy's wife) & their granddaughter Addilynn (pictured here with her daddy, Officer Mitchell Martinez) brought snacks for Officers and staff at the Altus Police Department. Thank you Sandra & Addilynn for the snacks and for thinking of us today. Our thoughts are with your family as well today.

Sandra has been working hard on the upcoming Jackson County First Responders Memorial, which will be located in the City of Altus Park. To learn more about this project, you can view their Facebook page, "Jackson County First Responder Memorial".

The Altus Police Department would like to thank ALL First Responders for serving your communities and for being the true heroes! So, if you see a First Responder today, be sure to say hello & to thank them for their service!
