Meet Western’s new Director of Development and Alumni, Monica Taylor.
Monica grew up in the small town of Olustee and has been a part of the Altus community her whole life. She married a Texas guy and now lives in Vernon, but her roots are definitely here in southwest Oklahoma. She and her husband have 4 kids, 3 grandkids, and the cutest little Aussie pup ever. Monica attended and received her associate's degree at Western before finishing out at SWOSU. “I have many fond memories of my time here at Western and am excited to walk these halls again,” said Monica.
Why did you choose to work at Western?
I am very appreciative and proud of what I have always referred to as "our college." I love the programs offered and the genuine care for the education of the students that attend. Everyone I know that works at Western talks about how much they "love their job." I am proud to be a part of the Western Family!
What advice would you give students to help them succeed?
Really get involved! Set goals and work hard to achieve them. Don't be afraid to ask for help. Make lots of friends and HAVE FUN!!
What most are you looking forward to in your position?
Working with the Foundation I will have the opportunity to see the generosity of the people in our community, businesses, and individuals. From that generosity, I will get to see students receive scholarships that might make the difference in whether or not they are able to further their education. There is great satisfaction in seeing that process come full circle.
The Foundation's role is to provide financial support that will enable Western Oklahoma State College to achieve expanded goals and fulfill higher purposes that otherwise are not possible on limited funding. The Foundation seeks continuous support. As the Foundation grows, the college educational programs grow.
