The Cameron men's basketball team open up Lone Star Conference play on the road in Tyler, Texas, against the UT Tyler Patriots, marking Kevin O'Connor's first game in the LSC.
The Aggies began their season with five non-conference games going 2-3 in that span. To end November, the Black-and-Gold traveled down to Tyler, Texas, to take on the Patriots for their first LSC matchup of the season.
CU got off to a slow start in the first half, laboring their way to 23 points in the first 20 minutes of action. The offense was carried mainly by Jaden Okon and Andre Washington in the first half of the game, and both racked up seven points as the Black-and-Gold trailed at the break 31-23.
However, Coach O'Connor's squad has been in this spot before, with a sluggish first half that leaves a lot to be desired offensively. That was once again quickly corrected by the 15-minute mark in the second. The Aggies pulled within one by going on a 13-6 run offensively.
After that run, the Patriots regained their stronghold on the game and held on for a 69-57 win over Cameron.
The Black-and-Gold were led by DeSean Munson in scoring, who finished with 12 points thanks to a strong second half while grabbing nine rebounds, swatting a shot, and collecting a steal. Washington finished with 11 points, the same mark as second-half standout Ernest Young. No other Cameron player reached double-figures.
CU stumbled in their first LSC road test, but they have another shot on December 3rd, in Dallas, against Dallas Baptist. The Aggies will play their first conference home game in the Aggie Gym on December 10th against St. Mary's.
