Cameron University Aggies Continue LSC Slate at UTPB and ASU

The Cameron men's basketball team looks to snap the 11-game losing streak this week as they travel to Odessa, Texas, to face UT Permian Basin on Thursday, Jan. 12 at 7:30 pm, and then travel to face Angelo State on Saturday, Jan. 14, 3:00 pm.

STARTING 5:
1. The Aggies' cold shooting late leads to a 70-66 loss to Western New Mexico. Caylen Goff-Brown scored a game-high 23 points, DeSean Munson scored 13 points, and Andre Washington recorded a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. 
2. The Black-and-Gold has two averaging double-figures, led by DeSean Munson (12.3 ppg) and Caylan Goff-Brown (11.2 ppg). CU is averaging 70.9 points per game while shooting 45.8 percent from the floor, the fifth-best in the LSC, and ranks sixth in the conference shooting 34.3 percent from three. They also grab the fourth most defensive rebounds a game, 26.0.
3. UTPB is on a five-game losing streak after losses to Lubbock Christian and West Texas A&M last week. The Falcons score 72.5 ppg while surrendering 73.7 ppg. They have four players averaging double figures, Azariah Seay (16.9 ppg), Jalen King (13.5 ppg), DaJuan Jones (12.5 ppg), and Keyon Craddock (10.3 ppg).
4. ASU is 6-0 on their home court this season. The Rams hold the LSC's best shooting defense, as they hold opponents to 40.7 percent shooting from the field; they also pace the league in rebounding margin (+7.1 rpg).
5. On Jan. 12, 1969, Led Zeppelin released their debut album. The album was imaginatively named "Led Zeppelin."

LAST TIME OUT: 
The Aggies' cold shooting late leads to a 70-66 loss to Western New Mexico. Caylen Goff-Brown scored a game-high 23 points, DeSean Munson scored 13 points, and Andre Washington recorded a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Cameron was held to 36.8 percent from the floor in the loss while hitting 2.7 percent of shots beyond the three-point line.

SCOUTING THE AGGIES:
Cameron fell to 2-13, 0-9 LSC, 0-5 DIV., after two close home losses to Eastern New Mexico and Western New Mexico a week ago. They are averaging 70.9 points per game while shooting 45.8 percent from the floor, the fifth-best in the LSC and rank sixth in the conference shooting 34.3 percent from three. They also grab the fourth most defensive rebounds a game, 26.0. Defensively, the Aggies are giving up 79.1 points to their opposition while allowing teams to shoot 44.1 percent from the field and 31.5 percent from three. Cameron is led by DeSean Munson (12.3 ppg) and Caylen Goff-Brown (11.2 ppg).

SCOUTING THE FALCONS:
UT Permian Basin comes into the matchup at 8-9, 2-6 LSC, 0-4 DIV., on a five-game losing streak after losses to Lubbock Christian and West Texas A&M last week. The Falcons score 72.5 ppg while surrendering 73.7 ppg. They have four players averaging double figures, Azariah Seay (16.9 ppg), Jalen King (13.5 ppg), DaJuan Jones (12.5 ppg), and Keyon Craddock (10.3 ppg).

LAST TIME AGAINST UTPB:
The last meeting went to overtime, this time losing to UT Permian Basin on Thursday night 85-77 despite a pair of double-doubles from Colt Savage and Connor Slater. Savage and Slater were both tough down low for the Aggies, as Savage recorded 15 points and 10 rebounds, and Slater recorded 13 points and 11 boards. UTPB tried to pull away from CU early in the first half. However, each time the Aggies came firing back, tying the game multiple times in the first 20 minutes of action. Cameron shot 41 percent from the field and was 7-23 from three. They only turned the ball over 11 times and outrebounded UTPB 46-42. The Falcons shot 44 percent from the floor and were 8-28 from three.

SCOUTING THE RAMS:
The Rams are 11-3 on the season and are 7-1 in conference play. They are only one of two teams in the LSC to have suffered only one loss in conference play. ASU is 6-0 on their home court this season. The Rams score 75 points per game; they shoot 44.9 percent from the field and 33.1 percent from three. The Rams hold the LSC's best shooting defense, as they hold opponents to 40.7 percent shooting from the field; they also pace the league in rebounding margin (+7.1 rpg). Kevon Godwin leads the Rams' offense with 15.5 ppg, sixth in the LSC, and Reggie Quezada scores 13 ppg.

LAST TIME AGAINST ASU:
In the last meeting, the Aggie men's basketball team fell to Angelo State 89-83, battling until the final minutes. Cameron matched ASU, who entered the game with 12 wins this season. The Aggies shot 42 percent from the field, 38 percent from three, and 82 percent from the charity stripe. The Rams shot 43 percent from the field, 39 percent from long range, and 78 percent from the charity stripe. CU outrebounded their opponent 42-36, but the Black-and-Gold turned the ball over one more time than the visiting Rams.

WHO HAS NEXT:
Cameron returns home for a four-game homestand, kicking off against Oklahoma Christian on Jan. 19 at 7:30 pm. UAFS comes to Lawton on Jan. 21 for a 3:00 pm tip, West Texas A&M visits the Aggie Gym on Jan. 26, and Lubbock Christian closes the homestand on Jan. 28.
