Cameron's poor shooting in the second half cost the Aggies at Drag's Court on Thursday, as they fall to Western New Mexico 50-48.

The Aggies drop to 10-12 overall, 7-9 in the Lone Star Conference, and 4-6 in the West Division.

Kiara Lovings led the Black-and-Gold with 10 points, Katie King scored nine, Kailyn Lay chipped in seven, Karley Miller and Alena Wilson added six points, Korie Allensworth and Kloe Heidebrecht recorded four, and LaKya Leslie had two points.

Wilson grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds, Leslie and Lovings snagged six boards, King and Lay pulled in four, Heidebrecht and Miller collected two rebounds, and Allensworth added one.

King dished out four assists, Lay added two, and Alannah Gillespie had one assist.

King and Lay led Cameron with three steals, and Leslie and Wilson swiped one.

Lay drives in and sinks a layup to open the game. Western would score the following five points to take an early 5-2 lead before a Lovings three would tie the game with 5:55 to play in the opening quarter. The Mustangs closed the first on an 11-2 run to take an early 16-7 lead.

The second quarter was Cameron's best of the night; they scored 20 points on 7-of-15 shooting from the floor, 3-for-5 from three-point range, and 3-of-6 at the charity stripe. Miller started things with a three to start the frame. WNMU responded with a 7-0 lead to build a 23-10 lead, but that is where the bleeding stops for the Black-and-Gold. CU would go on a 12-0 run to cut the game to one point at 23-22 after a three from Lay with 4:40 to play in the first half. The Mustangs finished the half with a 6-5 advantage to take a two-point lead into the intermission at 29-27.

Western New Mexico would outscore the Aggies 9-2 over the third quarter's first seven and a half minutes. CU started the third quarter shooting 0-for-12. Cameron did not make a shot from the floor in the second half until a Miller three-pointer at the 2:04-mark. After a Lovings layup and a jumper from WNMU to close the stanza, Western would take a six-point lead into the final frame at 40-34.

The teams would trade baskets early in the fourth quarter, with the Mustangs holding on to an eight-point lead at the midway point. Cameron would be held scoreless over five minutes through the middle of the quarter, but WNMU could not take advantage with a scoreless window of 5:41 of their own. The Mustangs' basket that broke that drought would be the game-winning layup with five seconds left. The Aggies would have two chances to tie the game in the closing seconds but missed both shots.
