Cameron's Korie Allensworth and Katie King were honored on Wednesday night as the Lone Star Conference announced their end-of-the-year honors at the LSC Championship Banquet.
Prior to the start of the quarterfinals of the LSC Championship Tournament on Thursday, the LSC recognized deserving women's basketball student-athletes as the All-Conference and All-Academic teams and special awards were handed out.
King was named to the All-LSC Third Team, while Allensworth was an Honorable Mention.
King, a third-year guard from Harrah, Okla., is averaging 10.1 points per game, 3.6 rebounds per game, 4.0 assists, and 2.3 steals for the Aggies this season. King led the team with 111 assists, totaling 242 for her career. She ranks fifth in the LSC and 68th in the NCAA, third in the conference with steals and 39th in the nation, and has played the fourth most minutes per game in the LSC. King set her career-high with 29 points against Texas A&M International on Feb. 16.
Allensworth, a guard out of Sulphur, Okla., averaged 10.5 ppg, 3.6 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 1.5 steals per game this season. She ranked second on the team in shooting percentage from the floor and three-point rank, shooting 44.3 percent from the field and 35.5 from long range. Allensworth scored a season-high 22 points in a win at Southwestern Oklahoma State.
As for the rest of the individual awards, Lubbock Christian's Grace Foster was voted Player of the Year, Sawyer Lloyd of Angelo State was selected as the Defensive Player of the Year, Freshman of the Year was Gabby Elliott of St. Mary's, Eastern New Mexico's Deja Adrian was picked the Newcomer of the Year, the Sixth Woman of the Year was Tina Machalova from UT Tyler, and Beth Jillson claimed the Coach of the Year award.
