During Tuesday's City Council meeting, Mayor Stan Booker presented a proclamation to Garver Engineering Firm, recognizing June as Garver's STEM Education Month. Garver's Regional Water Director, Mary Elizabeth Mach, accepted the proclamation.
Garver is a multi-disciplined engineering, planning, and environmental services firm with over 1,000 employees across the United States, including over 125 in Oklahoma. In 2023, Garver celebrated 30 years of serving Oklahoma communities.
Their corporate giving program, GarverGives, is a platform where Garver and its employees can give back and get involved. Employees partner with local organizations to provide STEM education and strengthen their communities. Through this program, Garver has been bringing STEM education to Lawton youth through a variety of outlets.
Partnering with I AM STEM, Garver is providing Lawton youth with a closer look at engineering through summer programs such as Spread the Word Ministries, MIGHT Technology Learning Center, Lawton Public School's Makerspace Summer Camp, and Abundant Life Christian Church.
Garver has helped increase interest in STEM in our Lawton-Fort Sill community by offering immersive experiences. They aid in cultivating the next generation of engineers. The City of Lawton is known as Oklahoma's "STEM City," so we greatly value and appreciate Garver for their contributions in promoting STEM education for our youth.
