It is National Hispanic Heritage Month! Western’s Hispanic Student Association will be featuring a weekly student spotlight, throughout the month!

Meet Mena Sanders

Hometown: Duke, OK

Major: Behavioral Science

Why Western? I chose Western because it was affordable, and a great place to give me a college feel.

Activities at Western:  Student Senate, Rotaract, Black Student Union, Hispanic Student Association, WINDS, and Pioneer Pride.

Favorite thing about your culture: My favorite thing about my culture is the food, music, and dances. I love to watch people of my culture dance, sing, and overall have a good time! I also love going to parties where they dance and sing so I can enjoy the food.

What does Hispanic Heritage month mean to you? Hispanic Heritage month means a lot to me. It is an awesome feeling to know that my heritage and people are being celebrated. This month is a great time to come together with people of the same heritage, to celebrate and learn more about our culture and it is a good time for people who are not Hispanic to learn about our culture!
